" o, green world, don't desert me now. "
The steepest ridges, the highest peaks, the longest journey...
Bright scarlet, deep, muddy browns and specks of jade meet your eyes as you gaze out at the expansive slopes and hills, shaped in such a way you can help but wonder if the Gods themselves created such a sight. A small, fleetfooted river flows by your feet, the water crystal clear and full of beautiful fish, with scales of silver and of gold, of copper and of pearl. The others in your group are already ahead, bickering about who will go on guard for the night, no one wanting to be up at such a dangerous hour. You linger along, ignoring their little rants, gazing restlessly at such a divine sight. The trail you walk upon is winding, turning and twisting up the hill in front of you, the colour of rust.
As you walk along, the trees seem to slowly die: each pillar of branch has less leaves, burnt bark, shriveled up. Crows call from above, looking for carrion that's been rotting on the ground, wondering where it all went wrong. The worn, leather bags you're carrying hold the month's rations, though everyone knows they'll be eaten up in only a week.
A burly, large man falls behind, letting his large, leatherlike hand stop you for a moment, clutching your shoulder. A steely, crimson gaze comes from behind onyx strands of unruly hair, the colour of the flawless region itself. His voice is stern in a way, harsh, though obviously sympathetic.
"Don't get too excited. This place is much more hellish than you can believe. Stay on your toes, okay? I wouldn't want a noobie like you getting killed on the first night."
The Absinthe cliffs are a range of mountains that stretch for far more than miles, unforgiving. The mountains are gigantic in size, being steep enough to be considered vertical in a way. Crags easily collapse, once great, gigantic arcs being reduced to thin threads that reach across the sky. Full of both predator and prey, the range has been known as the most dangerous, horrific place in the world, housing both gigantic scorpions and unfriendly natives alike. The only thing that seems to grow is coffee, oddly enough, a sort of inside joke from Mother Nature herself. The trails are harsh, the nights are too long and too cold. The perfect place to get yourself carelessly killed.
Strange things happen there - anyone who's passed through knows it isn't a normal, albeit dangerous place. Strange natives live underground, in the mountains, supposedly hiding there for millenia. The trees can eat you, as well as the worms. People "from above" can be seen, riding some sort of skyship, a boat on the wind. "Normal" people have known to go insane from just passing by, supposedly caused by a disease, or by the loneliness, the endless nights. Time and space is utterly defiled - though not out of the range of one's imagination, it is a strange, scary place.
So why go there?
It is the safest way possible to get to the Capital, of course, being nested in the valley of Nede, the only "normal part" of the treacherous region. Messengers go from city to city across the mountainous country, delivering messages and trading, and are payed quite handsomely for their deeds. Of course, travelling from the Capital to other parts of the country is basically impossible alone, and even with a ragtag gang it's quite a challenge. Because of this... casualty, the courageous little wanderers are hand-picked from across the nation, asked quite formally if they wish to go on this dangerous plight. Many decline, out of fear for their lives... will you accept this challenge, and boldy go where no man has gone before?
Err... yeah. I've been waiting to do this for quite a while. Took me long enough! How do you like it? Anyone and everyone can join, of course, since this place will bend all forms of reality. I'll keep it in fantasy, however, since there aren't any Pokemon or Shinigami wandering about. ;p
It's a mountain range of sorts, though strange things tend to happen. Be unrealistic! I don't want the Spine - I want the Spine with weird monsters that crawl out of the ground and have 3 eyes.
Ahaha~ I'm not used to doing most roleplays like this, since I'm more used to just diving right in and doing it. But this is a suitable alternative, I guess! Just give me the name of your character [who, hopefully, has some sort of magical power], and I'll gladly submit it. I'd like if they have some sort of profile, though it isn't necessary. I want at least 4-5 characters before we start, hopefully an even number of males and females. I want to make this a sort of Five Man Band, mostly because of my obsession with tropes... anyway.
Here's the team members of the "Tin Knights" :
Estelle - female. immortal. ice demon hybrid. intelligent. deceiving. cynical and cold, much like her ice-based abilities. has a pet panda.
Jalin Rills - female. 28 years old. human. optimistic, though air-headed. loves books. very adept with magic.
Reiran- male. 25 years old. human. timid and shy, though with a strong uphold of respect. fire user, adept.
Eillich - male. no known age. phooka. mischievous at heart, though also all-too-honest. could be considered a coward. can shapeshift and use only a bit of fire power.
Band Member #5 - Short description of him/her

Oh, very interesting. I like how you described the moutain range and the area. Sounds action-like.
I'd like to join, but at the moment I don't exactly have a character created for anything like this. Sorry about that, but I will make them. The powers can be anything useful in combat or ones relating to the Elements? Does it matter?

(I'm definitely interested in joining~ as long as you don't mind waiting a bit for me to get my character form up, as I won't have internet access until Monday. ^^; But if that's no problem, then I'll work on getting someone ready.
Oh, and if there's a need for a particular gender, let me know. I'm still deciding between two people, so I can go either way.)

Alright. I'm beginning to think of ideas now. Hopefully I can write my own form soon, too. Hmm. Male wouldn't be too bad to choose to play. I'll stick with that, just so we can get a gender ratio going~

(Alright, here's the character I was thinking of using. Let me know if she's okay for this. ^^ I'm not quite done with her profile, but it should be complete enough for her use, I think.)

Hopefully my character won't seem cliché when he's done. =x And if I'm taking too long, feel free to start. I'll pop in somehow.

OoC: | Haha, okay. Finally got around to reading Sparky and Sa-tan's characters, too. I remember Sa-tan's because I read her short story with Jalin (meant to comment on it but haven't yet, sorry ^^ , so I already kind of know her. Here's what I have so far for my character, Reiran. Not done yet and there's tons of details to add and fix, but I have more ideas in mind I'm not certain how to write down. Basically, he uses Fire magic. I'm having a hard time with his past as well, which makes it a tad more difficult. But I tend to do better with shaping characters when I write intros, anyways, so don't worry. xD

((I have a character I'd love to use, I just can't draw him right now - not in the clothes suitable for this, anyway. I have one full-body picture of him in a uniform for another role-play, would that be alright until I get my tablet working? I can fill out his info otherwise. EDIT: Ohey, here you go))
