Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 (FES)
This is a thread hoping to start up a role play or a one on one based on the PS2 game Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 (FES). Both Persona 3 and FES can be considered the same basic game -- same with Persona 3 Portable. However, FES has a bunch of bonus material, and P3P gives you the option of playing as a girl. (: If you're interested in getting it, I can give you more detail, but for now... I'm looking for a head count on who would be interested. Plot is go! Basic plot spoiler warning.
Opening: www.youtube.com/watch?v=DW-pfcLNbj0&feature=related
You're a high school student, particularly this kid with blue hair, and you just moved in to find out you've signed some contract and you're in a dorm for both genders, and... there's this girl with a gun who just greeted you, who looks your age, and some mysterious old man with a huge nose in (you guess) some kind of elevator, talking about tarot and your destiny ... yeah, that would be why I'm skipping 1st-person and going general on the plot.
Most the people on the island are just regular high school students who don't know anything about the hour after 12am, the midnight hour, in which they fall into a deep slumber in a coffin so that they won't be eaten by the Shadows... well, except for when something goes wrong and you appear outside of the coffin, in this tinted-green version of your normal world, get eaten, and diagnosed with something called 'Apathy Syndrome'... sorta like being comatose and having downs syndrome simultaneously? But anyway. There are these people called 'persona users' who are exposed to the midnight hour at a certain point in their life -- and, hopefully they unlock their 'potential' before they get eaten. All these people live in a special dorm, the one I mentioned earlier, and are a part of the school club 'S.E.E.S.', but that doesn't matter much. Anyway, they summon their persona -- a manifestation of their true, inner self, or a facet of their personality (think your one true pokemon, but more adult) -- to defeat these shadows. By killing themselves. Err, not quite.
To summon your persona you shoot yourself in the head with an evoker, so most newbie persona users are incredibly hesitant to use them at all -- traditional weapons work just fine, for them. The police force will hook you up. No, you don't actually die, it just looks like a gun. .___.;; The main battle grounds for S.E.E.S. is Tartarus, a tower with over a hundred floors and an ever-changing layout, like a labyrinth. BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. Nope, every full moon you've found that there's a boss battle, each boss corresponding with a tarot arcana. |: If you have no idea what tarot is... they're fortune-telling cards. The Fool, Magician, Priestess, Tower, Lovers... they're sort of like types of pokemon, but, naturally more complex. Every major character(s) you encounter in your life corresponds with a persona, as does everyone on your team, and all the shadows you must face. :3
The MC in the game can control multiple persona, and must build friendships with people in the real world to (indirectly) power up their persona in the Midnight hour... but everyone else just has one and they level up normally, gaining skills as they go. It's also something of a dating sim... either way, everything intermingles. > w>;; And it's really more complex than that, but I'll leave it there to avoid too many spoilers.
tl;dr: High school. Fight shadows with persona (monsters) / weapons in midnight hour (between 12 and 1am), tarot arcana = business cards, a boss every full moon. Extinguish shadows to save the world.
Thanks for reading~ :3
