notes > This is a roleplay. JOIN IT DAMMIT. The plot page is at the top, obviously, and you can read about the general plot there. Obviously, we're got going to get much going unless we have the required characters, so please pick some. :| It's a formal party by the way. You can join whenever you feel like it, but if you're going to play someone important (antagonists, heir), please post in the plot page so we can get things sorted. Only rule here is no wild/owned legendaries. That's about it. I'll start the tournament itself after a few posts.[/blockquote][/blockquote]
Lilycove, the city where the land ends and the sea begins. Brightly lit by the searing sun of Hoenn, the massive metropolis was a jewel in the eyes of tourists everywhere, with its glamourous shopping malls and beautiful displays of Pokémon mastery, ranging from Contests or Battles. One of the richest families in the city had a very well-known interest in Pokémon battles and training, and they often hosted tournaments for these trainers, giving away a sum of their money to the winner.
It was the birthday of that family's oldest child, and they decided to hold a particularly large tournament this time around. The entire Lilycove Contest Dome was rented out and decorated with lace and food tables. The sky was darkening, giving the ice sculptures a chance to shine without the hazard of melting, and as soon as the first star appeared, the battles would begin. In the meantime, family members, invitees, and trainers alike idled around the inner field of the Contest Dome, calmly sipping drinks and talking about the latest in battling strategies and mechanics.
Between the mingling groups of humans, two Pokémon watched the sky lose its bright blue as the sun set to the west, beyond the looming Fortree Jungle. The first one to turn away quietly examined the trainers, easily distinguishable by their rugged air and the Pokéballs hanging from their belts. The duo would be fighting one of these trainers soon. Their own trainer was invited to the tournament, but since she disappeared, they decided to come alone. It would be difficult, facing a team of six Pokémon alone, but it wasn't like a loss would be devastating. Certainly, no one expected that much of them. Unless, of course, their appearance somehow told strangers that they had unnatural power. But by now, they were pretty sure everyone knew shininess had no effect on power levels.
"It's nice that the party's out in the open like this," Psy twirled his glass of sparkling wine lightly, gaze resting on the elegantly dancing crowd at the middle of the field. He was a little bit envious of their dancing, but it would be a bit awkward to dance with them. Gardevoir were pretty human-like, but there was the added addition of not knowing anyone at this celebration. Psy sighed softly. At least it was much better than the licentious 'dancing' today's teens participated in.
"It's getting a bit cold."
"Aren't you happy that I made you wear that shawl, then?" The taller psychic smirked.
"Shut up," Fire rejoined, pouting. She resisted wearing the brown shawl at first, but complied after Psy pretty much chased her down for an entire hour without showing signs of exhaustion (to be fair, he was using Magical Leaf, which was easier than running across half of Sootopolis City). The Blaziken tightened the shawl around her shoulders. Usually, she would just create a fire to keep herself warm, but the risk of setting the party on fire (and the much greater risk of Psy chiding her about it in a more-likely-than-not painful way) was enough to tone the normally rash Blaziken's spontaneity down. For now, Fire was content with eating her cake under the watchful eye of her 'big brother' (and, to be honest, she was fond Psy's overprotective behaviour). Until their battle began, she would act somewhat civil. Somewhat.[/font][/blockquote]
