Introduction:
Welcome to The Magical Leaf!
Thank you for stumbling upon our humble little community of writers. We're glad to have you aboard.
Make yourself comfortable and cruise around our very friendly chatting and roleplay boards. We have tons to offer, and you will feel right at home.
Every member is always important to breathe life into a community, and this forum is the perfect place for every single person to know they're contributing to the site with each login and post.
The Magical Leaf is a casual multi-genre community that is 100% dedicated to giving everyone enjoyable roleplays and providing writing advice to new and old writers. We have boards for art, graphics, poetry, and other writing works. Our site is not set on one plot, and several roleplays can be created by one person in endless genres. For example, do you crave to join in on a high school roleplay, but also wish to create a plot for a unique roleplay you've been dying to tryout? Do both now!
Members can freely create roleplays as they choose, or join them as they please. Simply, we do not stop you from forming whichever roleplay you desire to roleplay out with others and try to give you support along the way.
The site does not restrict certain writers, so do not feel any pressure to hang around and stay a while. Newbies can join right along with people who have had years of experience, so there's a great blend of members to talk too and learn from.
Right after joining you may hop straight into the community life. Post your introduction, characters, join in on good-natured converstation, find good roleplay partners, join in on fun contests, hone your writing skills and gain writing experience, and much more.
If you have any questions, click Pre-Suggestions, Questions, Comments, & Concerns thread. Here you can ask any questions you have about the community if you are a guest. Thank you for reading, and if you're ready to confirm you wish to join, please go ahead and read our community guidelines. We sincerely hope you enjoy your stay in The Magical Leaf! Register here.
Starting Guide:
Have you deicded you will join TML?
Thank you and enjoy your stay!
Joining the forum is easy. You may make an account by clicking register. Afterwards, start skimming the community to find out what others are roleplaying and post in different boards to chat. After that, your characters have to come into play. There's character templates to use to make them, but it is not mandatory to use ours; you may use your own form or edit ours to your needs. Ours are for those who need help or want a full profile. You may find all of the characters and the template by clicking here to head over to the Character Headquarters. Next, you are free to wonder into any roleplay that you wish, or to create and join boards as you please. If you make a board, it's all yours. Decide who can join, what characters you'll use, which plot, rules, etc.. It's all up to you!
Most importantly, rememeber the whole site is dedicated for every member to use and enjoy themselves.
Disclaimer:
We cannot control everything a member posts before we are able to read it, so please be careful while viewing the site.
Guidelines:
The guidelines below keep the site in order. Breaking too many might mean certain consequences, but don't worry; there are not that many and our staff will not try to boot you off the site due to misunderstandings. We will never unfairly warn or ban any member who has not broken any rules. The Cbox, PMs, and any other form of communication on the site hold the same principles for these rules, as well. Check these every once in a while to refresh your memory. If one is added, fixed or changed completely, it'll be an announcement.
Please check out Proboard's Terms of Service for the entire board's set of rules, as well, by clicking here.
basics:
1) Classic roleplay rules apply on this forum. For example, powerplay (controlling another's character) and godsmode (being invincible) might be frowned upon by other members, so keep that in mind. Try to use in and out of character signs so no one gets confused. Chatspeak is fine, but some members may be offended or not appreciate it if you use it excessively or at all. Make sure they are comfortable with it before using it. It probably would not be the best idea to just hop into a roleplay unless someone states it is okay, so it might be a worthwhile to politely ask for entry.
2) Respect each of the members as you would anyone else, even if you do not agree with them. Agree to disagree on things. We do not want any flaming wars to start. In the same style, if you do not like how someone has created a board, then it's a wise idea not to join it. Do not crash, bash, or try to interrupt someone's roleplay if you do not approve of it. Givng them a critique is one possibility, but please respect t hem if they ask you to leave their board.
3) No multiple accounts. It's for organization issues, and you only need one account for all site functions. There's no limit to how many characters someone can have or the amount of roleplays they can host or join. Just edit whatever you need in your profile, and you're set.
4) To keep your roleplays on the move, talk on a side not e about the situation and what could possibly go along next in a roleplay. Talking with your partners makes you begin to understand who is behind the character and you can make new friends. However, everyone in the roleplay may not appreciate getting off-topic to only talk.
5) If you are not fluent in the English language, we might be able to help you with that (maybe we can learn some thing from you, too), but this is basically an English-only board.
6) Since we are a community for any level of roleplayers, our members do not have to worry about what level of writing they are at to be here. Though, we do want everyone to keep things in mind. Using one-liners all the time (even though they're acceptable) and having posts which make no sense every single time riddled with errors do not help everyone learn how to write better. We would like longer posts, or at least a few sentences. Try to include thoughtful, clear, and concise replies. Remember to use capitalization, grammar, and punctuation to the best of your abilities. If you are still not good with all of this, try your best and do not be discouraged. Writing takes practice and even the best writers have to edit their first drafts. Check around the site for further tips.
7) Do not spam the community or Cbox with junk posts. This includes posting the same post several times in a row, or only posting one or a few words with no meaning. Double posting is something easy to fix. Just edit or repost if you believe plenty of people have viewed it and may not notice an edit. Try not to make several of the same type of boards, too - try to use the one you already have. Not to say that you can't make more than one board with the same idea, but make sure you're not just leaving a good board out. Keep posting in the same one, or make a new one if it flops completely and it's best to start over. Check out other people's boards; you may end up liking their ideas, as well.
copyrights:
Do not claim that things off The Magical Leaf, its members, or other sites partnered with The Magical Leaf are yours if they are not. This includes images, text, ideas, plots, characters, etc. They belong solely to their respective owners. It's fine to show people things and give credit as you may use something and where ownership is due, but stealing isn't tolerated.
being away & activity check status:
It is positive to remember to be patient when someone does not reply to your board. Check to see if they have mentioned being away to you or in the Vacation section. Two options are also helpful. Bump the board once every twenty-four hours (if it is no longer on the first page of threads) or send the person a PM. If it is longer than this, perhaps continue with your roleplay if you can, or check out other people's roleplays while you wait.
TML wishes for its members to be active, ready to roleplay, an d chat with other members. Inactivity will surely happen, however. For this reason, we will clean out accounts at the end of every year. December 31st will be the final day to post for the year, and accounts will be cleared on January 13th after members are notified of who will be deleted on January 1st.
Each activity check will last for two months, as the first activity check of the year kicks-off with January and February. If you have not been spotted on the site for over six months, you will be considered inactive. This is different if you have posted in Vacation, since we go by what you say there. For example, we are not going to be strict if we know you are having problems with certain things or you have been a wonderful member in the past; it is just to delete dead accounts, mostly.
If you have never posted in an activity check but have been on recently in the last month and actively posted, that's fine. But if you have not been on for six months and never posted once, we will delete the account. We will be more lenient if you also have been gone for half a year, but you were active before that period. We do not wish to delete members who have been here in the past but cannot do the same in the present time.
The staff would prefer if everyone would post on activity checks at least twice a year. We recheck them before we delete any members. It is fine to skip a few, but we recommend posting in the activity checks when they come out. Everyone on the site will be sent an e-mail at the beginning of December with their usernames to tell who will be deleted if they do not sign-in. Login soon after these messages to prevent the deletion. If you return later you are more than welcome to make a new account.
Check here for the most recent activity checks.
rating:
The Magical Leaf has a limit up to PG-13 in accordance with the Proboards Terms of Service and The Magical Leaf's guidelines, allowing no extremely graphic content. Violence, romance, and language all count for these categories. No massive bloodshed, no crude romance scenes, and no trying to alert our filters to kick in on a regular basis (they block cruder curse words, not the basics). Likewise, the Darker Themes board is directed towards roleplays which are considered more on a serious tone only and nothing breaking the rules. We apologize, but if you find someone to roleplay excessive materials, please take those portions of the roleplay offsite, like IMs or e-mail. If you need help deciding about your posts or someone else's, contact a staff member. If something is found to be inappropriate, it will be dealt with.
Consequences:
Everyone here wants to a pleasant roleplaying experience. They do not want to encounter anything negative, and the staff will act according to what the situation is. We have the right to see how things are handled in disputes and take action as we see fit. A normal member or staff member will be notified immediately if they break any of the rules. If you have any of the following to report, please do not hesitate to contact a staff member. If you are a staff member who has broken these rules they will be handled differently.
What can be considered a breaking of the guidelines.
1) Breaking any of the site or Proboard's guidelines intentionally, or not paying attention to warnings.
2) Purposely trying to harass to someone as cursing, saying/posting obscene about them in text/pictures, or provoking them.
End Results.
1) A person will be warned. It will be usually three times. It depends on which rule has been broken and if the action is on purpose. New members will be taken into consideration when warnings are sent out since they are not as familiar with the community, but they will still recieve one.
2) Taken away privileges or banned for a extended period of time. You will be notified how long through an e-mail.
3) You are deleted and banned to come back. This is only used in extreme cases like posting completely obscene pictures or heavily spamming every board of the community.
